Rifle Team

Advisor: 1SG Vaars

Captain: Allyson Aguirre

The Hawks rifle team has two categories, sporter and our newly added precision rifle team. The team competes in three position shoulder-to-shoulder matches against other schools, as well as online 'postal' matches. The competition involves firing at targets from three positions: kneeling, prone and standing, at a distance of 10 meters. There are two categories: Sporter (using entry-level, less expensive rifles) and Precision (using high-tech, Olympic-style rifles and equipment). The event typically includes both individual and team competitions, with qualifiers advancing from postal matches and regional championships. Good shooting takes extreme focus and concentration, and the most disciplined cadets are often the most successful. Varsity and JV teams demonstrate their marksmanship skill in district and state level competitions. In 2025 the team won the CMP Nevada state championships and qualifying for regional championships and winning 1st place as a team in the western region. For the first time, the team sent a shooter to Ohio for JROTC nationals and the team shot at the 3PAR nationals in June.

Description: What is drones? Drones is a team base competition that involves programing, Communications and team work. We have a skills/autonomous flight course that we have to fly though, based on how fast and where we fly the drone we can get points. Then there is a Communications course where we team up with another team from another school and work together to get as many point as we can. We have four teams this year 007 Greys Anatomy, The diamonds, Big Papa Smurfs, Power Puffs. Last year 007 Greys Anatomy won Silver State brigade regional match in the communication course and was able to compete in army nationals and all service nationals in Mississippi and Georgia.
